Fill Machine Engineering impresses at FAKUMA with its comprehensive range of products – from process development through to quality control

Research, testing, industrialization. The result is innovation. Often also revolutionary. FOX Velution GmbH, the youngest subsidiary of the Fill Group, specializes in new types of manufacturing processes for eco-efficient lightweight construction applications. As an application-oriented service provider for material suppliers and molded part producers, FOX Velution develops and implements integrated processes for composite materials – from the initial idea to practical evaluation through to series implementation. At the international trade fair for plastics processing from 13th to 17th October 2015 in Friedrichshafen, a large number of visitors came to the FILL PLASTIC WORLD to discuss new approaches and seek inspiration from one other.

Friedrichshafen/Gurten, 30th October 2015Innovative technologies for energy-efficient production solutions, new types of manufacturing processes for eco-efficient lightweight construction applications, and state-of-the-art methods for quality inspection and production control – Fill presented the entire spectrum of modern plastics processing and treatment at the FAKUMA trade fair. Perfectly coordinated, from process development through to quality control. As a full range supplier and systems integrator, the Austrian machine engineering experts offer the best solutions internationally in the automotive, aerospace, and energy industries.

From initial idea through to series implementation
The youngest "offshoot" of the Fill Group is FOX Velution GmbH. This company, based in Nuremberg, specializes in developing and implementing innovative production processes for eco-efficient lightweight construction applications. When it comes to intelligent, functionalized material combinations, integrated processes are essential for reducing energy consumption, the number of handling/positioning operations and joining processes to a technically and economically feasible minimum. However, before such concepts can be applied to large-scale series production, intensive development work is required. As an application-oriented service provider for material suppliers and molded part producers, FOX Velution develops and implements integrated processes for composite materials – from the initial idea to practical evaluation through to series implementation. The company´s two CEOs, Mirjam Lucht and Jörg Vetter, were providing information at FAKUMA about the work principles of "Material on Demand", "Open Innovation", and "Best Experience Approach". Trade visitors are invited to join in discussions – in an atmosphere of mutual inspiration – about new approaches in the "FILL PLASTIC WORLD".

Swiss precision and Austrian automation expertise
Together with Isotherm AG, Fill has developed an innovative controller based on the new Siemens TIA technology. This dosing technology allows for maximum dosage precision and low shot sizes when processing fillers. "We can conduct specific tests for our customers in-house, in accordance with their exact requirements. This allows us to develop a tailored solution together within a short space of time," says Wilhelm Rupertsberger, Manager of the Plastics Competence Center at Fill, when explaining the customer benefit.

Industrial image processing
"The key to higher productivity, greater efficiency, and complete quality control are intelligent image processing systems," says Wilhelm Rupertsberger. With its subsidiary weitblick systems, Fill has proven experts at its disposal for developing new technologies in the fields of industrial image processing and software engineering. These systems are integrated into machines, where they are employed for a variety of monitoring tasks: Position detection, type recognition, testing for completeness, and quality control can be performed in this way with 100% reliability. The special software required for this purpose is developed in-house by the specialists from weitblick, which allows the image processing experts to respond rapidly and efficiently to individual customer requirements and develop tailor-made solutions.
