High Pressure Core Composer technology gets more out of wood

Fill introduces its innovative new process which enables substantially more efficient core layer production. Successful appearance at LIGNA 2017.
With the brand-new HPCC (High Pressure Core Composer) process for the production of core layers, Fill Machine Engineering has taken a major step forward in making wood processing more efficient. The new development increases raw material utilization by up to 35 percent. The new operating concept for the speedliner bandsaw series was also presented to trade visitors for the first time. With simple and intuitive operation, it makes high-tech easy. The Upper Austrian machine builder thereby provided the highlights of the international LIGNA exhibition, which took place in Hanover from 22 to 26 May, 2017.
Hanover/Gurten, 07 June 2017 From the new core layer production process HPCC and the fully automated spot repair unit through to the easy-to-use high-tech bandsaws – at its exhibition booth at LIGNA 2017, Fill presented a whole range of innovations. With 1,500 exhibitors from 45 countries, LIGNA is one of the most important international trade fairs for the forestry and wood industries.
Higher quality – higher yields
Fill’s new HPCC process has been developed for producing core layers for 3-layer boards and parquet. With this innovation, the Upper Austrian machine builder is focusing on the production of gluelam as a semi-finished product. The wet timber is pre-planed in a highly economical way, before being pressed under extreme pressure. Knots, cracks, and other defects in the raw material are fixed during the process. In combination with the speedliner bandsaws featuring the narrowest of kerfs, this increases the material yield by a total of 25 to 35 percent to up to 90 square meters per cubic meter of raw material.

“At the latest since the dawn of the Industry 4.0 age, intuitive operability – even of complex systems – has developed into an important factor. The operator should be able to work as fast and effectively as possible with the machine in order to achieve an optimal result in minimal time. It’s about efficient communication between man and machine. This results in greater system availability and, thus, lower production costs,” explains Erwin Altendorfer, Head of the Fill Competence Center for Wood. The new operating concept for the speedliner series represents a major step forward in making wood processing and machining more efficient. Simple to handle, yet very productive.
