With six world premieres and the Fill Future Zone, Fill demonstrated its innovative strength in both machine engineering and the field of Industry 4.0 at this year´s Gifa.
Fill Machine Engineering presented the Fill Future Zone at the world´s leading trade fair for casting technology, Gifa, from 25 to 29 June. Extensive digitalization in the sense of Industry 4.0 enables highest levels of quality and efficiency. Intelligent simulation models create new opportunities in terms of component development and production planning. Fill´s latest developments – tiltcaster e, speedliner d, swingmaster 500, deburring wheel, grind performer r, and core refiner – were presented to the public for the first time.
Düsseldorf/Gurten, 11 July 2019 – A combination of advanced series production machines and expertise in customer-specific solutions makes the difference: 25 million cylinder heads, 400 million suspension parts, and 12 million engine blocks are produced every year on Fill systems. "New products demand new processes, and new processes make new products possible. Whether it be digital twin or automated grinding cell, maintenance supported by augmented reality or the newly developed decoring simulation – all these solutions will be indispensable for future production systems," Thomas Rathner, Head of the Fill Casting Technology Competence Center, explained on the sidelines of the trade fair in Düsseldorf.
Six premieres at Gifa
A dazzling display of innovations was staged on the Fill exhibition stand. Six world premieres were on show there. The tiltcaster e has been developed specifically for the production of electric motor housings and other castings with a large installation space. Experience gained in the fields of processing aluminum castings and sawing technology flowed into the development of the new high-performance speedliner d saw. Depending on the application, the Y-axis is executed either with a bandsaw or with a circular saw. Swingmaster 500 – Fill decoring machines and hammering stations are the recognized benchmark for the most demanding requirements and the toughest decoring tasks. They unite maximum performance and flexibility. deburring wheel – is an extremely robust pre-processing machine for iron and steel castings and forgings, designed specifically for the harsh foundry environment. The grind performer r grinding system stands for sturdy strength where power, dynamics, and precision need to be harmonized. core refiner removes burrs on complex contours and indentations in a reliable process, without any programming effort or mechanical tool wear.
Fill Cybernetics – welcome to the Future Zone
With its Fill Cybernetics smart factory solution, Fill is bringing digitalization to production processes. Fill Cybernetics connects to all the machines in a factory and enhances them with intelligent algorithms. The smart process control optimizes not only component flows but also machine capacity utilization. In parallel, production and process data is collected and recorded. A look into the future of casting technology.
Information and communication platform
Fill´s exhibition stand at Gifa impressed with technical innovation, creative design, and modern comforts. This was reflected in the huge number of visitors every day at the trade fair. The combination of Austrian innovative ability with Austrian cuisine made the stand an ideal meeting place for many visitors, where they could find out about the latest developments and exchange views and ideas with international colleagues and partners.
