Fill Machine Engineering closes gap between manual processes and CNC machining centers with new generation of robots.

The JEC World composites trade fair (8 to 10 March 2016 in Paris) was the perfect venue for presenting a new generation of robots from Fill. The latest innovation from the Innviertel region goes by the name of AccuBot (Accuracy roBot). It is based on leading-edge technology “made by Fill” and years of experience in plastics processing. The newly developed precision robots close the gap between manual machining processes and cost-intensive CNC machining centers. A decisive step towards total automation in the sense of Industry 4.0.

Paris, Gurten, 23 March 2016At the world’s largest composites trade fair, JEC in Paris, an innovation from Austria was the center of interest, especially for the aviation industry: A new generation of high-precision robots was presented on the Fill exhibition stand. The AccuBot robots feature a level of precision previously unachievable in this form. Among other applications, the new robots can be used for drilling and countersinking aircraft structural parts. Until now, these operations have had to be performed in complex manual machining processes. The increase in robot accuracy expands the range of applications many times over.

Precise and efficient
Highest levels of precision and resource efficiency are important parameters in modern CFRP production. Automation is the order of the day. “The degree of automation in processing fiber-reinforced composites is a decisive factor for the productivity. Companies with a high proportion of automated production processes generate a clear competitive advantage. With the development of the AccuBot robots, we have succeeded in taking a significant step in the right direction – i.e., towards total automation,” explains Wilhelm Rupertsberger, Manager of the Plastics Competence Center at Fill.

Popular meeting place for the industry
Once again, Fill´s exhibition stand at JEC World was a popular meeting place and communication platform for the industry. The modern stand concept demonstrates the innovative ability of the Austrian company and offers a relaxed atmosphere for exchanging views and ideas. Both the Fill Cube and the cocktail lounge were very highly frequented on all three days of the trade fair. This year the number of visitors from the aerospace sector was higher than that from the automotive industry for the first time, according to Wilhelm Rupertsberger.
