Active social engagement: Fill forges cooperation with Red Cross
Upper Austrian machine engineering company not only leads the way technically; new paths are also being taken in social engagement.
Fill Machine Engineering is collaborating with the Red Cross in Upper Austria on the basis of a humanitarian partnership. As part of the cooperation agreement, apprentices in all three years of training will gain practical experience in the work of the Red Cross during the course of various projects. These foster the personal social competence of the young people and raise their awareness of humanitarian issues. Nowadays, good employees in modern companies are not only experts in their fields; social engagement and active adherence to values are also becoming increasingly important. They make the individual and hence the whole team successful in the long term.
Gurten, 26th March 2015 – "Trust, a sense of responsibility, and fairness are company principles that govern our actions. Consequently, a humanitarian partnership with the Red Cross is completely natural for me," says Andreas Fill, proprietor and CEO of Fill Machine Engineering in Gurten. His company is successful internationally in machine and plant engineering and is the technological leader in many fields. 90 percent of all cars contain components produced on Fill machines. The export rate is more than 90 percent. This success is not only founded on excellent products but also on the employees themselves. A good working atmosphere, vocational training and further development play a central role. Nor is this restricted to technical fields of expertise at Fill; it also extends to the social sector.
Adherence to values
As part of this cooperation, young apprentices are made aware of their personal social responsibility for other people. In their 1st year of training, they take part in an experience-based focus day. In the 2nd year, apprentices implement a social project supervised by the Red Cross and
in the 3rd year, apprentices can volunteer to take part in a taster shift with the emergency services at a Red Cross station. In this way, the young people learn social skills and adherence to values in a practical environment.
Humanitarian partner
For several years now, Fill Machine Engineering has organized a very successful blood donation campaign. A delegation from the blood donation center in Linz comes to the company headquarters in Gurten, where employees and their relatives can donate their valuable blood during working hours. A large number of blood donors take part in this campaign every year, thereby actively supporting one of the most important tasks of the Red Cross.
