VDI forum on energy efficiency
Technological approaches for increasing sustainability in the industrial environment.

After a successful start, with public presentations on the subject of "Prospects for lightweight engineering" last autumn, this year´s spring session of the "Innviertel VDI Dialog" at Fill Machine Engineering in Gurten, Upper Austria is addressing the issues of "Energy – Efficiency – Imagination." Which materials and processes are really efficient when considered in their entirety? How can individual machines and complex production systems be designed so advantageously? And what contribution can intelligent infrastructure concepts make here?

Gurten, 28 February 2013 – The long-term trend of sensible resource use is increasingly influencing the design, production, and utilization of the entire environment in which we live. Between individual ecological ambitions in the private domain and the overriding legal framework at political level, sustainable development and production on an industrial scale are also of paramount importance in the field of international competition:

Energy – Efficiency – Imagination
On 4 March 2013, Dipl.-Ing. Dr. mont. Otto Urbanek from Dr. Urbanek Technologie Management GmbH, Ried im Innkreis, will report on the subject of "Energy-efficient plastics processing – making successful decisions today" and discuss "Lessons from current European analysis." Questions regarding efficient material use will be addressed by Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. mont. Reinhold W. Lang from the Johannes Keppler University in Linz, in his lecture on "Polymeric materials and the transformation of the energy system" on 8 April 2013. Dr.-Ing. Serafin von Roon from the Research Society for the Energy Industry in Munich will conclude the lecture series on 6 May 2013 with deliberations on the subject of "Successful implementation of efficiency potential: Experiences from the first intelligent energy efficiency network in Austria."

Competitive advantage through networking
The interdisciplinary series of lectures and discussions takes place within the framework of the "Fill Academy" in Gurten, Upper Austria. The academic afternoon events are rounded off with optional guided company tours of Fill Machine Engineering, accompanying demonstrations of software-supported lifecycle cost calculation for machines and systems (based on VDMA Standard Sheet 34160), and an evening "get-together."
